Tamed the Monster Prince - Chapter 5.2
Cesar, immobilized, raised his head to assess her response and drew nearer to her. The sound of their respiration filled the space.
They were close. Cesar kept inhaling deeply, and she could feel his warm breath on her chest and neck.
“That, stop…….”
His fervent breaths become increasingly more rapid, and warm air is soon brushing the back of her neck. Gradually and steadily. Damp and hot.
“Ugh…….”
She was on the verge of tears, but she kept her composure. Subsequently, she noticed the warmth on the back of her neck dissipate.
She felt a sense of relief.
She was taken aback upon feeling a warm and moist sensation on her wounded hand.
Cesar acted without delay and lapped up the liquid from her hand.
He could hear the liquid glugging down his throat and the dampness of the liquid permeating the space.
Her eyes widened in bewilderment rather than due to the pain. He remained in an altered state of consciousness, his face still in her hand.
It was reminiscent of a young creature seeking sustenance from its parent. It appeared to be in a state of urgency and desperation.
He gently probed the wound with his tongue, and a sudden, intense pain surged through him.
“Hmph.”
Her jaw dropped as she felt the pressure of his teeth against her mouth. she braced herself and held her composure.
It is unclear how much time has elapsed; it feels like an extended duration, yet it appears to be a fleeting moment. Cesar was still consuming her blood, and she managed to reach out to the corner of his desiccated eye.
An unexpected occurrence then transpired; the black streak of blood on his cheek vanished. His limbs, which had been twisted abnormally, appeared to realign.
“Huh?”
Cesar slowly lifted his head, providing a momentary respite from the pain.
They made eye contact once more.
The familiar glint in his eye was absent, replaced by a contentment akin to that of a sated creature. He gave her a smirk, a hint of crimson at the corner of his lips.
“Ha…….”
The stress dissipated, allowing her to take a deep breath of relief. Simultaneously, tears that had been suppressed began to flow down her face. Cesar then looked at her intently.
He resembled a scared animal more than a monstrous force on the loose. Such could be why he was snarling at her, she speculated.
She determined to make one final attempt to reach out to Cesar.
“Hey.”
He remained silent when she called out to him, and then he rested his head on her lap. He glanced at her shyly before playfully hitting her with his lap pillow.
Unbeknownst to her, she extended her arm and gently caressed his head.
Initially startled, Cesar quickly acclimated to her touch and even actively sought further contact by angling his chin from side to side.
The expression on his face gave her courage. Gradually, her hand moved to caress his cheek.
She pondered the possibility of him biting her, yet she was more preoccupied with his physical state.
She adjusted her sleeve and removed the blood from her face. She cleared it away.
Cesar then licked her lips again, this time with a faint whimper.
He was amused, displaying an endearing expression.
She gently ran her hand over his head, feeling a sense of comfort and ease.
She was uncertain, but she did not believe he intended to cause her harm.
During her youth, she provided sustenance to a stray canine without her family’s knowledge. She was not keeping the animal, simply supplying it with food. It showed its teeth defensively at first; however, it quickly trailed behind her when it realized it was safe and she posed no harm. Once she became more open with it, the rest was simple: It would rest its head on her lap and embrace her whenever possible. Just like Cesar does now.
In this state of exhaustion and anxiety, She gently addressed him, repeatedly running her hand through his hair. She affirmed his correctness and gently praised his abilities.
His glossy black hair was far more velvety than the fur of the stray dog she cared for.
She was aware of the comforting sensation of his body pressed against hers, accompanied by a sense of satisfaction.
His eyelids gradually began to droop, and he released a lengthy yawn. Irena was astonished; was he attempting to nap?
She considered disturbing him; however, she chose not to interrupt his serenity.
Subsequently, the precipitation outside the window ceased, and the only audible sound in the chamber was Cesar’s steady respiration.
He had a fever-like temperature while sleeping, and the stress accumulated in his body had dissipated.
He let out an involuntary groan as he closed his eyes.
