Tamed the Monster Prince - Chapter 17.1
The Obsidian Place was in poor condition. The bedroom she stayed in was clean, but it was just hastily put together. She could tell because…
‘It looks like they only cleaned what was visible. This is not acceptable and we will have to speak to them about this.’
She is grateful to His Majesty for revealing how dirty the floor of this bed was.
She removed the dust from the surface and used a handkerchief to wipe it clean. However, the handkerchief quickly turned yellow, indicating that this would not be a sufficient solution.
“This.”
Then Cesar hugged the cushion he had just thrown into her arms. For some reason, a sigh escaped her lips.
“Ahh.”
She wasn’t sure why she found it so funny, but she couldn’t stop laughing. Her stomach hurt from laughing so hard, and Cesar gave her a puzzled look.
“I’m sorry, I was just laughing a lot.”
The mess was so dirty and pitiful that she couldn’t find any courtesy. The laughter that broke out once could not be stopped, and eventually tears had to be shed.
His Majesty Cesar jumped into her heart full of clouds. That is, it was so dirty and messy that there was no courtesy to be found.
Since she came to the palace, she has always felt uncomfortable. The clothes are constricting, the shoes are stiff, and the scrutiny from others is constant. Everywhere she goes, she is followed by stares, which makes it difficult to relax.
‘I feel like I’m going to collapse each day if I think about it too much.’
This place doesn’t seem like it would be interested in someone like her. All of the fine silk and jeweled dresses make her feel like she’s not good enough for them.
‘I’m just a humble and lowly person, so this grandeur must be meant for you. You should be thankful that you survived.’
The anxiety was overwhelming and her breath was taken away. She wanted to just throw away all the contents inside her. If she wanted to take a breath, she had to face the wind.
At first, she felt the urge to scream out the voices inside her, but it was quickly replaced by a sense of fear and dread.
She was afraid that if she made one wrong move on the high rope, she would fall and never come back.
But then, the cushion Cesar gave her stopped the plummeting of her heart. She was grateful for his thoughtfulness.
It was like a mud doll, disregarding all the rules and regulations of the world.
It was a relief to feel her emotions temporarily dispersed.
A laugh escapes and the darkness fades away.
“But this won’t do.”
No matter how much she rolled around in the dust, this was still not clean enough.
“We agreed to reveal our human forms.”
Cleanliness is an important factor when judging a person’s appearance. She brushed his hair back from his forehead.
His well-proportioned forehead and dark, neatly combed eyebrows were revealed as she removed her hands from his face. Even the red pupils that caught his gaze as her hands moved. The shadows on her stubbly chin.
The face with perfect features stared at her. A warmth was gathering on his cheeks. So she called a maid to quickly pull the curtain.
“Is His Highness here?”
When Mercedes entered the room, it was clear that she had been searching for Cesar for a while. Upon seeing him, she finally showed a relieved expression.
“It looks like it’s time for my bath.”
“A bath…?”
“Yes.”
Mercedes’s expression became more subdued.
“Did you turn the dust upside down like this?”
“But…”
Irena didn’t notice Mercedes’s hesitation at the time. Soon after, Mercedes came back with a composed expression and called out to Cesar.
“Come, Cesar.”
She gestured for him to come over and he hesitated, looking back as if he wasn’t sure. Irena couldn’t imagine anything happening besides a bath.
“No… right?”
Irena spoke quietly, not knowing who she was talking to.
She realized that her premonition was right. Soon after, she heard a sound of something breaking, followed by the screams of the servants. Then, the ground started to shake, as if something huge, like a boar or a bear, was running towards them.
