Tamed the Monster Prince - Chapter 13.1
As Eltha prepared to leave the room, Irena was getting ready to give the instructions to the attendants following her.
She made friendly eye contact with one of the maid’s offspring. When we made eye contact, she quickly averted her gaze to the floor, which suggested that she was becoming agitated. Such wasn’t a typical response, or maybe her suspicion of me suddenly grew amid the chaos.
“Wait, you.”
Irena vocally summoned her, unable to disregard the unfamiliar feeling.
“Yeah, yeah?”
Irena vocalize, and the maid replies at a low volume.
Irena experienced an inexplicable apprehension, sending a chill down her spine. It was as if she had been struck by lightning, causing a chilling and tingling sensation.
Unable to disregard it, Irena hastily donned a robe and summoned one of the squires outside the door.
“Investigate this child.”
The squire seemed perplexed by her instructions and shook his head in uncertainty.
“Didn’t you hear me?”
Irena spoke hesitantly, and the squire strode over and grasped the maid’s arm.
“I, Your Highness!”
Irena was paying close attention to her feelings, and the sensations running down her spine seemed to indicate something.
If her hunch is incorrect, she must act as the ineffectual hostess they presume she is.
The squire locked eyes with her and rummaged through the maid’s embrace.
“Check the pockets of her apron for a concealed compartment.”
She was mindful that this was a strange concept, yet she strongly felt it was the right move. Perhaps there was potential in this idea.
“This, this!”
The squire fumbled around for something and discovered a small gold bracelet. The bracelet fell to the ground and revealed the maid’s deception to everyone.
The item had a price in the middle of the range, and it had a pearl shaped like a teardrop rather than something that would typically be found in a maid’s uniform.
“I am certain that Delfina is responsible for stealing my work.”
The squire retrieved the item promptly and presented it to Irena.
“Have you determined why the prize came out of your pocket when Delfina had her hands on it?”
Upon examining the bracelet in Irena’s grasp, she posed a query to the maid. She responded with vehement head-shaking and trembling.
“It, it’s…….”
The maids were rendered speechless and proceeded to weep silently.
With the facts presented, it was difficult for them to escape disciplinary action.
“Request that all individuals be brought in for questioning.”
The knights took all but Delfina away, leaving her alone on the floor. Their eyes met, and she bowed in acknowledgment.
“Your Highness, I am most appreciative.”
Theft was a serious crime that called for a severe penalty because of its severity. The prospects were unsuitable for the housemaids who had just been taken into custody.
They attempted to use Irena as a pawn to get Delfina implicated in the crime. Delfina might have been caught if Irena hadn’t known about the sting operation that was being set up.
Irena let out a loud sigh and was about to say that she did not feel the need to express gratitude when she raised her arms resignedly. Before leaving, Delfina expressed her appreciation to Irena while continuing to nod her head in acknowledgment.
Irena was left feeling overawed after the commotion had died down and the dust had settled. It was at that moment that she became aware of the fact that she required the assistance of a dependable person.
“Ren.”
Cesar interrupts her musings by grasping the hem of her robe and pulling.
“Why?”
Even though he smiled at her endearingly and they locked eyes, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off in her chest. She gently ran her fingers along the bruise on his cheek, and he followed the movement of her hand with his irritated eyes.
Even though he had only glanced briefly at her, for some inexplicable reason, he felt an uncomfortable tightness in his chest.
She may have been dealing with this issue for a significant time, which can be frustrating and challenging.
She cannot communicate in any other way besides through vocalizations, including howling, breaking, and growling.
Concurrently, she could not sidestep the necessity of thinking about her situation. She had no one else to turn to for help besides Cesar.
“Maybe I should change it.”
The two of them appear to be going through this experience together.
Irena had a hard time wrapping her head around the concept of a servant who was violent toward their master, as opposed to one who was simply disrespectful.
She had to make significant replacements and fill the positions with personnel she could rely on to protect herself and Cesar. She also needed to do this.
She needed to see him address this issue…
“It may be prudent to address the Empress.”
