I Raised a Black Dragon - Chapter 103
“Disarm?” Noah lowered her eyes, glancing at her own body. There was nothing sort of a weapon, but there was a little dragon wrapped around the hem of her dress, clasped his arms around her leg.
Muell stared at the woman across them. Perhaps overwhelmed by the child’s gaze, Penelope’s hand, which gripped the revolver, flinched.
“Hmm…” Noah thoughtlessly hummed, holding her chin with her index finger. The woman’s gun was not directed at her face, but it was obvious that she would aim at her vital point as soon as Noah acted a little suspicious.
Muell noticed the investigator’s intention, too, and the air around them suddenly blew strong. He fired ferociously at Penelope, “Get out of the way in front of Noah.”
“Mu, you should speak politely to an adult.” Noah remained faithful to the little dragon’s etiquette training.
Then, Muell changed his tone into a gentle one while sticking out his lower lip. “Get out of the way in front of Noah.”
Penelope, though visibly wavering, did not back down. Noah admired her calmness. The energy which Muell deliberately exuded into the air was a power closest to the origin of all beings of the world. To be able to feel this power and remain composed nonetheless was worth commending.
“I already checked, Penelope.” Kyle stepped forward and pushed Penelope’s arm down. “I guarantee safety.”
“But Captain, the opponent…” Penelope reluctantly stepped aside, but her suspecting eyes lingered at the little dragon.
“No matter how much the Captain assures, she must be handcuffed. How many times have you been stabbed in the back by that woman?” Penelope insisted.
“Penelope, stop.”
“If you don’t arrest her right now, the Minister won’t let you go.”
Meanwhile, Noah became lost in thought as she listened to their conversation. She didn’t want to be in trouble nor cause one either.
In fact, what frightened her most was not the little troublemaker, who clung to her, or the stunning investigator in front of her, or the powerful people in Laurent, whom she might face in the future.
Who scared her most was herself. To be precise, her inability to control the absolute, surreal power of the dragon. If you step on the wrong foot, the ground will collapse.
Creak.
As if to support her thoughts, cracks began to form on the bridge, specifically on where Noah was standing.
The conversation between Kyle and Penelope, who were having a little scuffle, immediately ceased. Dozens of pairs of eyes simultaneously shifted their gaze to her feet.
“…..” No way. When she took one foot off with a sheepish smile, fragments of wood from the bridge collapsed onto the sea.
“…So.” Kyle concluded with a tired face. “Don’t provoke her, woman.”
Penelope was silent.
“Back down, Penelope. We are not allowed to lay a finger on the body of Eleonora Asil.” Kyle’s words bore a tremendous authority.
The investigator’s attitude, who had planned to confront Noah, risking the lives around them at the same time, changed a hundred and eighty degrees.
They seemed to think Noah was going to burn to the ground everything she touched, stepped on, and even where she breathed.
Sadly, it was true.
While they descended from the bridge and headed to the vehicle reserved for them, Kyle whispered, discreetly grabbing her arm. “Don’t think about anything, Miss Noah. Please. Empty your head. I can’t take your side if you act like the god of destruction has returned.”
“I don’t want it either, but I can’t help it.” Noah groaned.
Thinking the weather was somehow hot, the sky suddenly became dark. Noah panicked and immediately prayed the sky would clear up again lest the rain poured heavily on them. In a wink, the skies brightened. It was only natural for the faces of the investigators, who quietly followed after her, to be anxious.
Eventually, Kyle suggested a solution. “Then, give me Mu. If you are physically separated from the main source of power, the distance may slow down the response rate.”
Is that so? Noah handed Muell to Kyle, slightly dubious. Still, he had become a familiar human being to the child, and Muell moved on to Kyle without much resistance. Noah was glad there was one person that the little boy had grown accustomed to besides her.
While Noah thought so, Muell had placed Kyle’s hand on her head in a dignified manner and prompted Kyle to stroke it.
…I think Mu also treats that man as a butler. Noah enjoyed the feeling of her hair being caressed, closing her eyes.
It was the best thing to enjoy the feeling of sweeping the hair with your eyes closed. Kyle, who embraced Muell very naturally, was either a butler or a babysitter by any means.
Soon, they were seated in the vehicle heading towards the Bureau of Investigation, and Noah murmured a heartfelt apology to Kyle.
