The End of Your Arrogance - Chapter 47.2
“She seems to be solving riddles.”
Stas continued.
“If you look at a piece of cloth, you will find something.”
Rene, who had been listening to their conversation, interrupted.
“Your Highness, I will look into this.”
“Yes, please.”
René packed a piece of cloth and put it in.
“But why did she bother to send the maid to her annex? It seems like a better place to wait on the former grand duke than in the annex where the madam resides.”
Stas replied to Naz’s cautious words.
“The maid of honor said that it was a special request from the former Grand Duke.”
Ilya’s eyebrows twitched.
“Your brother is really… kind.”
Looking at Ilya’s suddenly bloody expression, Naz only rolled her eyes.
Dude.
After Rene clapped her hands again, she grinned.
“Your Highness, are you going to just wait until something comes out of the piece of cloth?”
Ilya shook his head.
“No, it’s because I suffered a lot from her.”
All three pairs of eyes turned to Ilya.
“That woman is going to lose everything she has built up until now. She’s not even worthy of being called a saint of Atlantis.”
Ilya recalled Selice’s face from her childhood. She shuddered as she remembered the woman who whipped the maids like a demon, with a twisted face.
Ilya rhythmically taps his fingers on the armrest of the chair.
“While we search for clues, we need to make sure she can’t make any moves.” Ilya glanced at Stas and smirked.
“Come up with a specific plan. Aren’t you a strategist?” Stas grinned, his teeth shining brightly.
“Exciting things are about to happen. You can look forward to it.” Naz trembled at the officer’s laughter.

“It’s nice and quiet without the gossipmongers,”
Sophie murmured, and Evelyn chuckled. Last night, the eagle hastily left, claiming it was its master’s call. And it still hadn’t returned.
“Why are you like that? Our Libe loves the Eagle so much.”
“Hehe, that’s true. Thanks to that, we have a bit of free time.”
Evelyn stroked Libe’s head as he sat on the garden floor, playing. Libe had been uneasy all morning because of his absent friend. Evelyn took him out for a picnic in the garden.
“Mistress, the weather is so warm and pleasant today.”
“Yes, it feels just like spring.”
Hans, the gardener, handed Sophie a few beautiful roses. His eyes, which usually sparkled with mischief, looked serious when he looked at Sophie.
“The garden is becoming more beautiful. I should acknowledge your skill.”
“I constantly think about how to decorate this place to please you, Mistress,” Hans said proudly. Evelyn burst into laughter, finding it amusing.
Belina and Arthur couldn’t help but flinch at the sight that never seemed to adapt. They stared at Hans with wary eyes, from head to toe.
Caw, caw.
The sky turned pitch black, accompanied by the sound of crows coming from somewhere. Everyone was startled and looked up.
“What’s happening? Why are those crows flocking?”
Suddenly, something started pouring down from the sky. Something landed on Hans’ face.
“Damn crows!”
Hans grumbled as he wiped off whatever had stuck to his face.
“It looks like a piece of paper… Can you see what’s written on it?”
Hans handed the paper he had removed to Sophie.
“Sophie, what does it say?”
“It says, ‘Forever marred the face of a beautiful woman with the water of the Juete.'”
Evelyn’s ears perked up at the mention of Juete. While others may not have known, Evelyn and Sophie were familiar with Juete.
Juete was an herb that had a pleasant scent but was toxic. If you washed your face with water infused with Juete, it would cause rashes. If you scratched your itchy face, the scars would remain.
Therefore, Juete was often used by women in the harem when they competed for the Emperor’s favor. It was used to ruin the face of a woman who received the Emperor’s love.
Sophie whispered quietly into Evelyn’s ear.
“Lady, I overheard the maids talking in the morning. They said that a flock of crows gathered at the main building and sprayed this.”
Evelyn raised an eyebrow. This was not the imperial palace or Madous Castle, where women’s fights were common. Why would something like this happen here?
Evelyn looked around in confusion. Belina and Arthur also roughly removed the paper stuck to their faces.
“They often bought water infused with hibiscus for washing. It was their favorite.”
Arthur yelled, his voice sounding incredible.
“Human, I have arrived.”
As the flock of crows disappeared, the eagle that had left, claiming it was Rene’s call, returned. Today, the eagle seemed to be carrying an unusual weight on its shoulders. Evelyn asked the eagle curiously,
“Eagle, why do you think the crows are acting like that?”
“Why are you asking me about that?”
“You are all birds, so I thought there might be some connection.”
The eagle looked at Evelyn, arrogantly chuckled, and spread its wings threateningly.
“I am the king of birds!”
With these words, the eagle started darting around the entire garden. Libe started chasing after the eagle, causing a commotion in the garden.
“It seems like today is the day the birds go crazy.”
Everyone shook their heads in disbelief.
