The End of Your Arrogance - Chapter 15.2
“I have to do this because I’m the prince of Ajauntice. I promise you I will find whoever is behind this and their cooperators,” Ilya said. His deep blue eyes seemed genuine.
Evelyn loved the man in front of her… but she didn’t trust him. But she didn’t have anywhere else to go so there was no other choice than to trust him.
Her whole life was being controlled by her father, her husband. It’s okay, she told herself, things are getting better. I got myself a personal knight. Things will get better tomorrow.
A few moments later, her eyes curved and she let out a wide smile. The tears that formed in her eyes like dew lighted up in the darkness.
“I will trust you,” she said.
The hand that cupped her chin moved to the mane of her neck. Ilya rested her forehead against hers and when he spoke the next words his voice cracked.
“Go to sleep, you are drunk.”
“I’m going to Liv.”
He let out a small laugh that sounded like wind coming out of a flat tire. Evelyn tensed at the slight shaking she could feel through his forehead. Ilya stopped laughing and carried her on his shoulder. Hanging upside down, she let out a shout of surprise as she struggled with her arms and legs.
“Let me down!”
Ilya’s tone was sarcastic as he spoke. “My naïve wife, it doesn’t make sense to use separate rooms when you walked in here like we were fierce lovers.”
Evelyn knew it wouldn’t make sense despite the drunkenness. He laid her down on the bed and pulled up the sheets. She soon fell asleep after a long time of huffing and puffing.
Ilya’s hands reached to the cut on the lips that had been bothering him for a while now. After rubbing at the blood crust for a long time, he stood. Before leaving the room, he glanced at the frame that hung on the wall. A family saying that was written in handsome writing captured his attention.
Ajauntice will always remember; the grudges, and the kindness.
Ilya carefully closed the door and stepped out. It was time to pay back the grudge.

After stepping out of the bedroom Ilya looked for the room where Odin stayed. The knights of Maduse was shocked at the prince walking around without a single guard with him.
“My lord, I’m sorry but I don’t think Sir Odin is in a state to meet anyone…”
There was the sound of something breaking. The room that could be seen between the opened door was nothing but a pigsty.
“You don’t have to call for him now, open the door.”
Among the knights there was no one who did not know of Ilya’s fame, the prince of Ajauntice. But they were also afraid of the bloodshot eyes of the heir of Maduse who was destroying the room. Ilya frowned when the knights stood their ground with an awkward expression.
“You’re just as stupid as your owner,” he said.
One, two, three, four, five. Ilya knocked down five knights barehanded. The last sixth knight flew to the sky with a single yell. Once the obstacles were gone Ilya walked slowly inside. Odin froze at the smell of blood.
“Ayatollah Maduse, I despise the old man but he’s a smart one. Yet, why are all his sons this way?” Ilya clicked his tongue.
Picking up a broken piece of bottle, Odin charged to Ilya. “What do you know? You only got the title because your half-brother died so early!”
Easily avoiding the attack, Ilya responded sarcastically, “Isn’t it the same for you? Getting the heir instead of your brother with a beheaded neck? But seeing you, the old man will probably come aiming for your neck as well.”
Odin charged at him, letting out a sound of an animal in pain. It was getting tiring to see that face full of hate. Ilya grabbed Odin and pushed him to the wall. Odin had no choice but to concede to his enormous power. Odin choked against the arm that pinned him.
“This is for the cowardice you showed to my knight.”
Odin slid down the wall when Ilya let go.
“There’s still more to come. Get up.”
Wrapping his hands to soothe his neck, Odin charged at Ilya’s side. He flew before he had the chance to even touch him. Ilya stepped on Odin’s hand.
“This is for laying a hand on my woman. Evelyn is not your sister; she is my one and only princess.”
He pressed down harder on the hand and the room was filled with the roar of a beast.
As Ilya looked down at Odin, his eyes caught something shining. He cradled down and grabbed the ring that was rolling around the empty bottles. Ilya smiled widely as he looked at the ruby ring sparkling wickedly.
“Tell Ayatollah Maduse this: if word of divorce comes up again it’s war. I’ll take this as a souvenir.”
Playing with the ring in his hand, Ilya opened up the window and jumped out.
“No, not that! Give it back! If I go back like this, Father will…”
A desperate yell rang behind Ilya. The next day at dawn, Odin left without anyone knowing. For an heir of Maduse, the ruler of the middle district, it was a very shameful exit.
