The End of Your Arrogance - Chapter 14.1
Arthus gradually became slower in the fight. Nazz froze as he watched Arthus swing his sword in the air and missed.
The group of knights next to Nazz yelled, “Arthus! Pull yourself together!”
“Brown Bear! Keep your eyes open!”
Ilya cussed and tried to stand up. A white hand reached out and pressed on his shoulder. His infuriated eyes calmed a little. He observed the fight with cold and calculating eyes.
The giant grinned and stepped behind Arthus. He lifted Arthus up and flung him to the ground. Arthus rolled over to the side.
“Black Forest Knights are nothing!” yelled the giant. The stadium fell silent. He threw away his sword and picked up the ax from the ground. The crowd screamed in terror and closed their eyes.
“Arthus, no!”
Under the veil, Evelyn’s eyes were troubled. She was watching everything. When she saw Arthus roll on the ground, her heart felt heavy. Cold sweat slid down her face. The noise of the crowd became dull and distant.
She could see the energetic young knight’s smile flash for a second in front of her blurry eyes.
I can’t kill that monster… but I can make the fight fair for my knight. I will make the giant beg for death.
The heat and anger from her heart spread over her body. A voice tumbled out of her mouth.
“Rise.”
The dirt floor began to shake as if it was responding to her call. The ground that the giant stood on split into two, opening like a creature’s maw.
The giant felt chills run down his spine as he witnessed the hell below him. The nightmare did not stop there. From between the cracks, he could see something crawling out.
It was… a human hand. A rough hand of a knight, a hand like white jade, and a small hand of a child. The hands crawled and pulled at his clothes. It dug into his skin. The giant screamed in pain and fear.
“Arghh! Get off! Get off me!”
Behind the giant, a cold stone wall erupted from the ground.
BAM!
His large body slammed onto the wall with force. The hands followed and grabbed him, tying him to the wall. A small child-like hand covered his eyes.
Darkness. He was now in the same state as Arthus.
“Aghhh, let go! Let go of me!”
Evelyn smiled coldly and watched the giant struggle helplessly. Now it’s fair! It’s all up to you now, my knight. Get up and fight.
The crowd collectively held their breath. They saw the giant, who had been about to strike Arthus with an ax, flailing around like a madman.
“What in the world is that guy doing?”
“He must have lost his mind.”
The knights beside Nazz, who had fallen silent, slowly began to open their mouths to encourage Arthus. Nazz looked at Arthus to make sure he was alright, then yelled with them.
“Arthus! Get up! You idiot, this isn’t how I trained you!”
“Boy! Get up, you Brown Bear!”
Arthus’s finger on the ground twitched. His sight was blurry because of the blood running down his forehead.
“Get off, get off of me now!”
Arthus heard the cry of his opponent from far away. All sounds faded, and only the opponent’s voice remained. He looked towards the source of the sound. He got up and walked towards it.
One, two… thirty steps.
Arthus was barely able to grab the sword from the ground. He used the sword to keep himself standing on his feet. His hands on the sword trembled.
Arthus painstakingly walked to the giant. He threw his sword away and instead raised his leg and kicked him in the knee joints. The giant fell to the ground.
The giant opened his eyes in pain. He couldn’t see the hands anymore. The ground had pieced together. Everything looked… normal. The only one he saw in front of him was the roaring young knight.
“Bring it on! You vile prick!”
The duel resumed. This time, it was not a sword fight, but a fist fight. The two used all sorts of tricks to survive and win.
“Aghhh!”
Arthus reached for the giant’s belt and lifted him up it. The giant flew in the air with a scream and crashed on the ground. Arthus breathed heavily as he watched the giant on the floor, unconscious.
“Arthus of the Black Forest Knights wins!”
The crowd roared in joy. Arthus looked around the stadium with his blurry eyes. He seemed to be looking for someone.
“Evelyn, go down to him. The knight is looking for his lady.”
Ilya softly nudged her on her shoulder. Evelyn stood up and walked down the stairs. She leaned on the handrail and waved at Arthus happily. Her hair, just like the color of the ornament on Arthus’s sheath, flew in the wind. As Arthus noticed Evelyn in the veil, he punched his chest twice and raised his hands up to the air.
“Arthus won!”
“The boy did it!”
“Long live the Black Forest Knights!”
