Tamed the Monster Prince - Chapter 8.2
He could not articulate it but could sense a significant alteration from the past. He felt a chill on his back, and his body was shaking.
Cesar slowly lifted his gaze. His expression was vacant, resembling that of a reptile. Despite its vivid hue, it was frigid, like a glacial mass.
‘Ah…’
She surmised that her intuition prompted her to take action. She searched through her pocket for the anesthetic, almost robotically. Suddenly, she halted as if something had jolted her. What distinguished her from the officers who had apprehended him earlier?
She was filled with remorse and intense self-contempt.
“Ugh!”
An excruciating noise reverberated through the atmosphere. Irena’s garment was ripped, and a searing feeling shot through her forearm. The intensity of the agony caused her to emit a cry of volition.
She regained consciousness and noticed a wound on her wrist measuring approximately 0.5 inches. She attempted to remain composed; however, there was no other option. She was obliged to acknowledge that the incident was her responsibility.
She was apprehensive; how could her hands alone have inflicted such a deep laceration as if it had been made with a sharp blade? Her hand had penetrated him like a sword.
She observed his unusually long and distorted fingernails with keen interest. Unlike other hands, these were more akin to those of a monster.
He inspected the dried blood on his extended nails before licking it off. This action reminded Irena of the previous night when he had acted erratically and seemed indifferent to the blood when she had sustained an injury.
“…”
Amidst the chaos, she had to arrange her disorganized ideas hastily. Subsequently, she concluded. She had no assurance.
Considering the circumstances when he regained consciousness yesterday, she deemed it a risk worth taking.
“Okay.”
She proffered her injured hand to him, and it appeared to be reacting to her movement.
She mustered up additional courage and spoke with deliberation, endeavoring not to stammer.
“Do you want this?”
He emitted an agonized sound in response. He tightened his grip, causing his blood to seep out. She had to grit her teeth to tolerate the suffering.
“Then here you go.”
His hands shook uncontrollably, a sensation he had never experienced before. He narrowed his eyes as if something was on the verge of being released. The sound of his racing heartbeat filled his ears.
He noticed a viscous, crimson fluid on his lips, and his tongue instinctively licked it off. It was unmistakably blood. It is known that some creatures rely on consuming the blood of other living creatures for sustenance.
Cesar may have been afflicted by the dragon’s curse, transforming him into a creature that desired human blood.
“Huff.”
As he tried to shake these thoughts from his mind, he let out a loud exhale at the same time that a stabbing sensation ran through his body.
Cesar found himself delicately stroking her wrist as he spoke. It would appear to an onlooker that a knight was paying respect to the woman he loved from a distance.
Certain aspects of the world can only be fully appreciated after receiving a closer look at them. One can get a sense of the world’s breathtaking splendor by looking at it from afar.
It was a stroke of good luck that the location was deserted, as this indicated that the prince was not planning to seek revenge. If anyone had been there, the situation could have quickly become very dangerous.
The slurping sound of her blood being consumed filled her ears as she watched his figure illuminated by the light instead of the darkness. A chill ran down her spine.
The sensation of him licking her wound caused an unbearable pain that she could never grow accustomed to. However, it oddly did not seem too bad.
She is uncertain as to why this has happened; she may have changed.
This circumstance demonstrated to her an alternate course of action than what is typically expected.
Suddenly, she realized.
She is the one who emerged unscathed.
She suddenly felt a tightness in her chest and noticed that her heart was beating in an unfamiliar, rapid pattern. She was overcome with panic and was unable to breathe; she needed to cover her mouth with her hands because she couldn’t breathe. She had the impression that she would not make it through this, but the agony that Irena was feeling served as a constant reminder that she was still alive. As a direct consequence of this, she had no choice but to put up with it.
She was becoming increasingly disoriented and weak as the duration of his blood drinking continued.
“Stop it now,” She said.
“Yeah…”
Despite her request, he leaned towards her, causing her to be pressed against the floor. Before she could react, she was already lying on the ground.
Such is a bit awkward.
