Tamed the Monster Prince - Chapter 4.2
As her vision started to come back, she heard a crackling sound.
“Uh, uh, uh?”
She was left bewildered due to the unpredictability of the situation, which took her by surprise. Her head was swimming with an overwhelming number of questions.
Has the door to the closet been ripped off? One swift motion had been used to remove the wooden cabinets that appeared to be very sturdy. How was it that they were able to pull this off?
She was taken aback, so she took a moment to evaluate the circumstance, only to be overcome with a fit of laughter due to the dichotomy of her evaluation.
Using a closet as a hiding place is not a good idea because once discovered, you may find yourself trapped inside without getting out.
Despite her efforts to retreat, she could only feel the immovable obstruction following her. Her means of evasion were obstructed. She became rigid and motionless, much like a herbivore would be when a carnivore confronted it. A chill ran through her and caused her to become rigid.
Annalisa’s words, which she had heard so many times before, continued to play repeatedly in her head.
‘Persevere. Those who can bounce back from adversity are the most successful.
She has always tried to live up to the standards established for her. Since she has accomplished this, she can ensure that the results of her actions will not be harmful, unlike the erratic nature of Giovineta’s wind.
She gripped the dagger firmly and held it out in front of him aggressively. While he yelled, her tone was shaky, and her voice was weak.
“I, go away!”
She had no control over the trembling in her hands, and she was terrified that she wouldn’t be able to keep a firm hold on the dagger, which was only slightly larger than the palm of her hand. She felt ashamed as she stood in the run-down closet in disrepair and contained pieces of wood strewn all over the floor.
She had the compulsion to express her feelings aloud to the world.
Cesar kept his distance from her as he watched her from afar. The darkness obscured his face, but a faint red phosphorescence illuminated it slightly.
“Hey, go away……. Go?”
His calm tone served as a striking contrast to her sense of urgency. His eyelids slowly lifted, revealing bloodshot eyes now fixed upon her. His lashes were long, and his eyes were bloodshot.
A grunt follows a twitch of the face.
At that very moment, her breath stopped being drawn in. There was a problem.
“I ask that you step back from getting any closer.”
Her explanation was beyond his ability to comprehend.
“Go. Closer, eh?”
“Should you proceed even one step further…”
She sputtered and slurred her way through the words.
On the other hand, Cesar gave the impression that he did not comprehend her request to maintain a safe distance. Instead, he made a bold move toward her and approached her aggressively.
He approached the blade of the dagger that she was holding with caution as he moved his nose closer to it. She slightly adjusted the space between her eyebrows before taking a breath.
She was having difficulty tolerating the intense tingling she felt in her fingertips; it was almost intolerable.
She made a concerted effort to avoid eye contact with him because of the advice given to her by a woodsman who stated that it was potentially dangerous to make eye contact with wild animals when they were encountered.
After giving that advice some thought, she turned away from the person.
At that moment, an additional luminous silver glimmer brightened up the dimness of the room.
“Oh my God, oh my God…….”
His eyes were clenched very tightly, and his forehead was furrowed in concentration. He repeated the motion of placing his hands over his ears.
It was followed by an earth-shaking boom that reverberated through her very being. Suddenly, there was a tremendous uproar.
“Aaaaah!”
He let out a loud wail and then quickly curled up into the fetal position and huddled up to protect himself. The occurrence of multiple thunderstorms marked rapid succession.
Each booming clap of thunder caused his back to jerk uncontrollably.
His demeanour revealed he was afraid; he hurried to the foot of the bed while displaying a cowed posture and trembling the whole time.
Although he was known to be a “monster,” she had compassion for him. It is strange to feel such a strong emotion toward someone with such a prominent position.
As the thunder rumbled in the distance, she felt sorry for him and showed him her compassion.
Her anxiety began to fade away almost immediately after she understood this fact.
She mustered up her courage and moved away from the immobile position she had been in. She inched closer to Cesar, taking one step at a time, then another, until she stood next to him.
Cesar did not move from his crouching position in the corner and continued to emit distress vocalisations.
She steeled herself to face him and speak with him.
“……, there.”
“Ugh…….”
After she raised her volume, he seemed to be even more intimidated than before. Did he have an extreme aversion to noise? She proceeded with extreme caution as she came to a stop and maintained a certain distance.
After that, a considerable amount of time passed in silence until she finally broke the hush by speaking.
“……Are you frightened of thunderstorms?”
“…….”
She has no idea what thought process she was going through when she says those things. It was not an appropriate statement for an adult and should not have been made on the first day of a newlywed couple’s marriage.
After gathering her composure, she continued speaking.
“It’s okay.”
“…….”
She had to keep repeating the phrase because he didn’t respond to any of her questions. Perhaps she was in mind when this was said.
